Housed in what was once the old town bakery in the historic market town of Alnwick, the 'Bakehouse' offers the visitor a deceptively large space in which to view contemporary works of art by some of the UK's top designers.
There is a definite leaning towards tactile art with felted sculptures and hooky wall hangings, wirework pictures and vintage silk goodies. Also on offer are some individual and spectacular 'Mother Nature' artworks, whose sizeable fossilized tree trunks, ammonites and rock formations are randomly placed throughout the Gallery alongside ceramics and glasswork.
To sum up - The Bakehouse is an inviting and inspiring gallery oozing light and harmony, full of texture, vibrancy and colour with the overriding emphasis most definitely on quality.
